O	2430	San Pedro de Atacama	Several hostels, shops, restaurants, cash dispenser only for maestrocards, travel cheques accepted. After the aduana chilena, take the asphalt road to Paso Jama for 42km
42	4530	Turn off Laguna Verde	Take the left turn gravel road on the east side of the volcano Licancabur, the asphalt road continues to Paso Jama. You reach the Bolivian custom post which is called Portezuelo Hito Cajon after 5km. Here a 30 day visa stamp can be obtained. After other 5km you have to paid the entrance fee for Parque Nacional de Eduardo Avaroa (30 bolivianos pp).
55	4296	Laguna Blanca	Sleeping place (30 bolivianos pp), meals, water. There are two roads, take the left one, otherwise you will miss the Laguna Verde. Small river to cross, then you reach the other road again which enters the valley. The road turns sharp east to climb over a pass (4650m) and descends along the Rocas de Dali to the Salar de Chalviri.
96	4320	Salar de Chalviri	Thermal springs, sweet water spring, refuge in construction. The road starts almost climbing directly and bends to the west.
116	4950	Geysires Sol de Manana	The geysers of Sol de Mañana (4815) are situated a kilometer down to the left. After the geysers a road heads west to a mine and the road to Laguna Colorada heads to the north. The road goes now up and down and it will take another 16 km before it will start descending (4700) on the west side of Cerro Pabellon. After 7 km of descending the road splits* (4250) and the left branch (very bad washboard road) will go to the Refugio’s of Laguna Colorada (4220) which are situated on the far north side of the lake, another 16 km. *If you have enough water and food you can take the right branch and avoid a large bit of bad road. Is possible to camp behind the cottage of the park entrance
155	4220	Refugios Laguna Colorado	There are two refuges (30 bolivianos pp). Meals, water, very small shop. The Refugio's are kept free in the high season for touring cars, and will not give a bed away before all the tours are arrived. Just north of the Refugio's a track turns right and will continue along the north side of the Laguna. This road is closed to traffic and in a very bad condition. With pushing the main road will be reached after 11 km just north of the entrance of the parque.
166		North entrance	The road starts climbing again through a brought valley (4502) and then descends to Campamento Capinas, a salt miners camp, after 25 km.
191	4352	Campamento Capinas	Water, bread and maybe a bed. Besides the salt lake the road continues for 9 km more before starting to climb for 7 km to the pass (4566) in the north (steep gradient, rocks and sand patches). The road descends and will climb up again to reach a second pass (4500) after 4 km. 19 km descend to Villamar.
230	3967	Villamar	Villamar is a small village with hostels and several shops, water. The road continues over a high plain and will only start descending (4026) after 36 km. The descend is sandy and reaches the valley bottom after 8 km. Following the cycling tracks and cycling bridges. Alota is situated 5 km more to the east.
279	3777	Alota	Alota is a small village with several hostals and several shops, water. The road from Alota to San Augustin is a "camino olvidado" and no more used by cars. Take the brand-new street over San Cristobal to Uyuni.                    If you want to push your bike for kilometres through a great valley choose the way to San Augustin beginning by following the river, then the road starts climbing again to a pass (4192) which is reached after 22 km. Then a walking descend for 13 km brings you to San Augustin.
