In the border region of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and China you find the third biggest glacier of the world - Inylchek and the mountain giant Hahn Tengri. With the help of a tour agency it is possible to visit this stunning places in a combination of (unassisted) cycling and (guided) trekking and to leave the region in a loop over a little used gravel road along the kazakh border. To visit the sensible border zone it's absolutely necessary to have a special permit which can arrange the CBT office in Karakol between five days for about 30 US$ per person.

| For the following trekking (6-7 days) to the Merzbacher lake and over the Tjuzpass you need probably a guide - or at least someone who brings your bike to Echkilitash on the other side of the Tjuzpass (we recommend CBT or Alp Tour Issyk Koel in Karakol).
